Hazard Waste Reporting (Biennial)

The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act requires most facilities that, in the reporting year, is a Large Quantity Generators (LQGs) and/or facilities that treated, stored, or disposed of RCRA hazardous waste need to file a Hazardous Waste Report, also referred to as a Biennial Report.

LQGs are defined as follows:

  • Generated in any single calendar month 1,000 kg. (2,200 lbs.) or more of RCRA hazardous waste;
  • Generated in any single calendar month, or accumulated at any time, more than 1 kg. (2.2 lbs.) of RCRA acute hazardous waste; and/or
  • Generated in any single calendar month, or accumulated at any time, more than 100 kg (220 lbs.) of spill cleanup material contaminated with acute hazardous waste.


The report requires compiling hazardous waste generation information into a report submitted by March 1 of even years (2008, 2010, 2012) .
