Who Needs It
The employer is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a respiratory protective program, which shall include the requirements outlined in California’s OSHA Title 8 General Industry Safety Orders §5144.
Respirator training and fit testing is required for all respirator users, including voluntary users. Required initially, and at least annually.
Exception: Employers are not required to train those employees whose only use of respirators involves the voluntary use of filtering facepieces (dust masks).
The course includes proper use of respirators appropriate to particular hazards to which the employees is being exposed to, also hands-on fit testing is provided.
The session is approximately 1 hour in duration.
